Privacy Policy for Sydly

Effective Date: February 28, 2026

Agam Singh Saini ("we", "us", or "our") built the Sydly app (the "App") as a Free app. This SERVICE is provided by Agam Singh Saini at no cost and is intended for use as is.

This page is used to inform visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use our Service.

By choosing to use our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The Personal Information that we collect is used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use

For a better experience while using our Service, we may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information.

1. Location Data

The App requests access to your device's location data (Fine and Coarse location).

  • Why we need it: We use this data strictly to provide core functionality, such as finding your current location to calculate transit routes, showing nearby transport stops, and calculating distances to points of interest.
  • How it is handled: Your location data is processed in real-time and transmitted securely to third-party routing and mapping APIs (Transport for NSW, TomTom) to fetch transit directions.
  • Data Sharing & Storage: We do not store your location data on any external servers, nor do we sell or share your location history with advertising networks or third-party data brokers.

2. Local Device Storage

The App allows you to save "Home," "Work," and "Favorite" locations, as well as a history of "Recent Trips." This data is stored entirely locally on your device using local storage mechanisms (SharedPreferences). We do not have access to this data, and it is not uploaded to our servers. You can clear this data at any time by clearing the App's data in your device settings.

3. Analytics and Crash Reporting

We currently do not use any third-party analytics or crash tracking tools (such as Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics). We do not silently collect diagnostic data about your usage of the App.

4. Advertising

The App is currently ad-free and does not use third-party advertising networks. If we decide to introduce advertisements in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect the networks used and any associated data collection.

Third-Party Services

The App uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you or to process your requests (such as mapping a route). These third-party service providers include:

  • Transport for NSW (TfNSW) Open Data API: Used for transit routes, alerts, and stops.
  • TomTom API: Used for location and point of interest (POI) searching.
  • OpenStreetMap (Nominatim): Used as a fallback for location searching.

We recommend reviewing the Privacy Policies of these third-party service providers to understand how they handle data transmitted via their APIs.

Security

We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

This Service may contain links to other sites (such as external portfolio links). If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.
